It’s not a goodbye but a hello to new beginnings

12 days have flew by so fast, let’s see what how much I benefited from this module by the digital self-test!

Online Profile

Having an online profile promotes recognition and provides value to your brand [1].

 РPrivacy

As discussed in Topic 2, I separated my personal and professional profile. In my Facebook and Instagram I privatised them as those are my personal accounts.

Twitter is a great social media platform to include in resumes [2]. So I created a new professional account to I follow accounts like Marketing and tweet about it too.

In Topic 3 of creating online profiles, one of the step is having LinkedIn. Despite being a student, it is never too early to create an online presence in the working society. Furthermore, I will have internship in 2016 hence creating a LinkedIn account will benefit me to find a company.

– Consistency

Having several social media platforms, we have to build a strong online identity as well as to have authenticity. In all my professional online profiles, I have the same profile picture and personal information.

Future Activities

Even though this module is coming to the end, I feel that it is a new start of many opportunities. And these are the following activities that I will continue on:

– Events

I will plan to attend Marketing related events in Singapore to gain latest insight and build my network. For example, Web Summit [3]. It is a global conference where varies companies come together to talk about internet technology.

Even though the conference aren’t held in Singapore, I followed their Twitter and Youtube to keep myself updated about any upcoming tech news which is crucial as¬†we are living on the web.

– LinkedIn Profile

Having a week old LinkedIn account, my profile strength is only at advance.

There are components that require time and experience to build up. As I get more experience and achievement in the future, I will constantly update my LinkedIn account and hope to reach the expert level of profile strength.

– Discussions

In LinkedIn, I will continue to follow groups similar to the groups I join below:

In each groups, they have discussion topics. Hence I will participate in discussion to improve my knowledge of digital marketing.

I even manage to comment in one of the discussion!

– Newsfeed

Twitter provides target marketing and expertise, hence I have taken steps to follow accounts that is related to Marketing [4].

I even got followed by some Marketing companies! By reading latest news about marketing and technology will keep me update and will be able to apply these knowledge through my work.

Those are few activities that I will proceed on after the end of this module.

Despite being 12 days module, I feel that I not only learn more about the web but it prep me for the working industry through my online identity. Most importantly, we need to be ethnical whenever we are online, whatever you post online, stays online forever.
